Smooth, refreshing and surprisingly simple. Great cold brew doesn’t require special equipment, just freshly roasted coffee, cold filtered water and a little patience.
For a rich, chocolate-forward cold brew, we recommend The Comeback Blend.
You'll Need
- 1 cup coarsely ground Fresh Line Coffee
- 4 cups cold, filtered water
- A large jar or covered container
- A fine-mesh strainer
- A coffee filter or cheesecloth
- Ice
- Water or milk for serving
STEP 1: START WITH A COARSE GRIND
Grind your coffee until it resembles coarse sea salt—not powder.
A coarse grind makes the finished cold brew smoother and cleaner. Coffee that is ground too finely can create a cloudy drink with a bitter or gritty finish.

STEP 2: ADD COLD, FILTERED WATER
Combine one cup of coarsely ground coffee with four cups of cold, filtered water.
Stir gently until all the grounds are completely saturated. This creates a concentrated cold brew that can be diluted when served.

STEP 3: LET IT STEEP
- On the counter: 12–16 hours
- In the refrigerator: 18–24 hours
Room-temperature brewing works a little faster. Refrigerated brewing produces a clean, consistent result. Avoid steeping it much longer than 24 hours, as the flavor can become overly bitter.

STEP 4: STRAIN, POUR AND ENJOY
Slowly pour the cold brew through a fine-mesh strainer lined with a coffee filter or cheesecloth. Strain it a second time if you want an especially clean finish.
Pour the concentrate over ice, then dilute it with water or milk until it tastes just right. A one-to-one mixture of cold-brew concentrate and water or milk is a great place to start.
MAKE IT YOURS
Enjoy it black, soften it with a splash of milk or add your favorite flavored syrup. Keep the remaining cold brew covered in the refrigerator and enjoy it within seven days.
